In 1918, the Soviet Union became the first country to promise universal “cradle-to-grave” healthcare coverage, to be accomplished through the complete socialization of medicine. The “right to health” became a “constitutional right” of Soviet citizens.

The proclaimed advantages of this system were that it would “reduce costs” and eliminate the “waste” that stemmed from “unnecessary duplication and parallelism” — i.e., competition.

These goals were (the same as) the ones declared by Mr. Obama and Ms. Pelosi — attractive and humane goals of universal coverage and low costs. What’s not to like?

Secret Process Benefits Obama Pets

A sleepy Montana checkpoint along the Canadian border that sees about three travelers a day will get $15 million under President Barack Obama’s economic stimulus plan. A government priority list ranked the project as marginal, but two powerful Democratic senators persuaded the administration to make it happen.

Despite Obama’s promises that the stimulus plan would be transparent and free of politics, the government is handing out $720 million for border upgrades under a process that is both secretive and susceptible to political influence. This allowed low-priority projects such as the checkpoint in Whitetail, Mont., to skip ahead of more pressing concerns, according to documents revealed to The Associated Press.

It wasn’t supposed to be that way. In 2004, Congress ordered Homeland Security to create a list, updated annually, of the most important repairs at checkpoints nationwide. But the Obama administration continued a Bush administration practice of considering other, more subjective factors when deciding which projects get money.

This was sent to me by way of a message. It was written by an ex-cop shortly after he saw my blog. What follows is a very honest, insightful and terrifying message as he touches on the police perspective and the militarization of the police (which was largely excused as necessary by the ‘War on Drugs’).

“When I was a “police officer” back in the early ’70s the transformation was just starting to take place from a mentality of a public servant working for the citizens to “law enforcement”. The first I noticed of it was when the police departments started preferential hiring of ex-military people returning from Viet Nam.  They started introducing military tactics into the department, including the first S.W.A.T. team.  They quit referring to people on the street as citizens and started calling them “civilians”, or more commonly “assholes”.

“They looked for opportunities to use their new toys provided from “federal assistance” monies in the war on drugs. They changed the uniforms from the blue-suited cop with an 8-sided hat with a shield on front to a set of black or navy fatigues and a ball cap. They started shaving their heads and pumping iron. They gave up on the idea that they put themselves in the line of fire to protect and serve the public and took on a combat marine attitude of protect their own above all else.  I’ve known them to murder cop-killers in the street, but have a could-care-less attitude when a civilian is killed.”

“I was lied to, lied about and set up when I tried to expose some crooked cops.  Things since 1975 have not gotten better.  The thugs in uniform now consider themselves to be government agents of a totalitarian regime with limitless authority to enforce the will of the government on all civilian assholes.  There are obviously exceptions to that rule, but those would never try to stand in the way of the thugs.”

“Sorry, but talk show hosts I have heard that say we don’t have to worry about tyranny in this “nation” because our troops would never turn their guns on “Americans”.  They are wrong.  They have never read history.  They don’t realize the training and brainwashing that takes place in the military now and in the para-military police forces – especially the federales.  Just wait until big-O gets his Civilian National Security Force in place and all the local wanna-be LEOs join in with them.”

Broward County Florida Prepares For Massive Swine Flu Outbreak This Fall

Broward County officials are drawing up plans for how to handle a massive outbreak of swine flu this fall.

The county and area cities would set up centers where large quantities of drugs and medical supplies, including a vaccine for the H1N1 flu virus, would be distributed.

The points of distribution would be opened if health officials declare a public health emergency and decide to tap the nation’s strategic stockpile of medicine. The Centers for Disease Control has large quantities of medicine to protect the public if there is a terrorist attack, major flu outbreak or disaster severe enough to cause local supplies to run out.

The county expects to have sites ready for potential use by October. The distribution centers would be similar to those set up in the aftermath of Hurricane Wilma in 2005 to distribute water, ice and other supplies to residents.

County commissioners are expected to discuss the flu plans at their meeting Tuesday.

Bill Passes That Suspends Virtually All Constitutional Rights

The entire population of the USA is now but one pen stroke away from being subjected to mandatory swine flu vaccinations at gunpoint.

The United States of America is devolving into medical fascism and Massachusetts is leading the way with the passage of a new bill, the “Pandemic Response Bill” 2028, reportedly just passed by the MA state Senate and now awaiting approval in the House. This bill suspends virtually all Constitutional rights of Massachusetts citizens and forces anyone “suspected” of being infected to submit to interrogations, “decontaminations” and vaccines.

It’s also sets fines up to $1,000 per day for anyone who refuses to submit to quarantines, vaccinations, decontamination efforts or to follow any other verbal order by virtually any state-licensed law enforcement or medical personnel. You can read the text yourself here.

(Violation of 4th Amendment: Illegal search and seizure)

During either type of declared emergency, a local public health authority… may exercise authority… to require the owner or occupier of premises to permit entry into and investigation of the premises; to close, direct, and compel the evacuation of, or to decontaminate or cause to be decontaminated any building or facility; to destroy any material; to restrict or prohibit assemblages of persons;

(Violation of 14th Amendment; illegal arrest without a warrant)

…an officer authorized to serve criminal process may arrest without a warrant any person whom the officer has probable cause to believe has violated an order given to effectuate the purposes of this subsection and shall use reasonable diligence to enforce such order. [Gunpoint]

Mary Jo Kopechne Biography

Mary Jo Kopechne was born on July 26,1940 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. She was the only child of Joseph and Gwen Kopechne. She attended parochial schools in New Jersey where she grew up and graduated with a degree in business administration from Caldwell College for Women in 1962. She moved to Montgomery, Alabama, to teach for a year at the Mission of St. Jude as part of the Civil Rights Movement. And then in ‘63, she moved to Washington, D.C., to work as secretary to Florida Senator George Smathers. Mary Jo Kopechne joined New York Senator Robert F. Kennedy’s secretarial staff, following his election in 1964 where she worked as a secretary to one of RFK’s speechwriters.

By all accounts, Mary Jo Kopechne was a loyal and tireless worker for Robert Kennedy. During his campaign, she worked as one of the “Boiler Room Girls”, an affectionate name given to six young women who worked from a central, windowless location in Kennedy’s Washington campaign headquarters.

After Robert Kennedy was assassinated in June of 1968, Mary Jo was devastated and felt she could not return to work on Capitol Hill. She eventually went to work for Matt Reese Associates, a Washington, D.C., firm that helped establish campaign headquarters and field offices for politicians and was one of the first political consulting firms.

Mary Jo Kopechne lived in a Georgetown neighborhood with three other women. She was a devout Roman Catholic with a demure, serious personality, rarely drank much, and had no reputation for extramarital activities with men.

On July 18, 1969, Mary Jo Kopechne attended a party on Chappaquiddick Island, off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, held in honor of the Boiler Room Girls – her old friends and fellow Robert Kennedy campaign workers.

Reportedly, Mary Jo Kopechne left the party at 11:15 p.m. with Ted Kennedy, after he offered to drive her to catch the last ferry back to Edgartown, where she was staying. That ride cost Mary Jo Kopechne her life. After supposedly making a wrong turn, Kennedy drove his car off a bridge, freeing himself from the submerged car and leaving Mary Jo to die. Mary Jo Kopechne was 28 years old.

US $20 trillion in debt by 2019…. (Just A Reminder)

Obama revises budget estimates.

As you read here last week, Barack Obama’s estimate of the budget deficit was off by a mere $2 trillion. According to the Obama administration, the U.S. deficit will skyrocket to $9 trillion over the next 10 years — $2 trillion more than it forecasted earlier this year.

Add that to the existing $11 trillion budget deficit and you get a $20 trillion national debt by 2019.

Two Missouri Democrats quit after guilty pleas in campaign-finance probe

Two lawmakers from the St. Louis area resigned Tuesday from the Missouri General Assembly after pleading guilty to obstruction of justice charges in connection with a federal campaign finance investigation.

Freshman Democratic state Sen. Jeff Smith — viewed by many as a rising star in political circles — pleaded guilty to two federal counts of obstruction of justice tied to his failed 2004 congressional campaign.

Democratic state Rep. Steve Brown, who served as an aide to Smith in the 2004 campaign, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to obstruct justice. Brown also was serving his first term in office.

Health care legislation will mean “government funding of abortion”?

President Obama said Wednesday that’s “not true” and among several “fabrications” being spread by “people who are bearing false witness.” But abortion foes say it’s the president who’s making a false claim. “President Obama today brazenly misrepresented the abortion-related component” of health care legislation, said Douglas Johnson, legislative director for the National Right to Life Committee. So which side is right?

The truth is that House and Senate legislation would allow a new “public” insurance plan to cover abortions.

Charley Rangel Finds $500,000 He ‘Forgot’ about in 2007

Couldn’t be because of the two House ethics investigations he is involved in… could it? This guy is chairman of chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, which oversees this country’s entire tax code. How does this kind of debauched idiot keep getting elected in the first place?

Forget about it...

United States Representative Charles B. Rangel, whose personal finances and fund-raising are the subject of two House ethics investigations, failed to report at least $500,000 in assets on his 2007 Congressional disclosure form, according to an amended report he filed this month.

Among the dozen newly disclosed holdings revealed in the amended forms are a checking account at a federal credit union with a balance between $250,0000 and $500,000; three vacant lots in Glassboro, N.J., valued at a total of $1,000 to $15,000; and stock in PepsiCo worth between $15,000 and $50,000.

The updated forms report that Mr. Rangel’s total net worth is between $1,028,024 and $2,495,000 — about twice the amount listed in the original disclosure statement, filed in May 2008, which declared assets totaling between $516,015 and $1,316,000.

Mr. Rangel declined to discuss the matter, saying he did not want to comment publicly while the investigations continue. In the past, he has explained omissions on financial statements, including his failure to declare $75,000 in rental income on a villa in the Dominican Republic or pay $10,000 in taxes on it, as unintentional bookkeeping errors.

(I suppose this incident is just another “unintentional bookkeeping error”.)

A spokesman for the congressman issued a statement saying the amended disclosure forms were Mr. Rangel’s attempt to rectify recently discovered omissions in his financial reporting.
